Dear Hastings Democrats,
The Hastings Democratic Committee will be hosting a Candidates’ Night event on Thursday, March 2 (details to follow). Mayor Nicola Armacost and Trustee Tom Drake are seeking re-election and are confirmed to join us that evening. Due to a recent change in circumstances, however, the field remains open to candidates for the seat being vacated by Trustee Mary Lambert. All those interested in presenting themselves for consideration by the community and the Committee on March 2nd should contact me at hastingsdems10706@gmail.com. Candidates for village office must be residents of the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson.
Following our Candidates’ Night, the Hastings Democratic Committee will meet to consider its endorsement decisions. Immediately after that, we will begin carrying designating petitions to help our endorsed Democratic candidates (at the Village, Town, and County level) get on the ballot for the November General Election. A reminder that with the new electoral calendar and system approved by Village voters, the Committee’s endorsement does not determine which candidates will run for office or appear on the Democratic Party ballot line in November. Registered Democratic voters of Hastings-on-Hudson decide that, by choosing which designating petitions to sign and, in the case of a contest, by voting in the June Primary Election.
My best wishes to you all this Presidents’ Day,
Cassandra Sweet
Chair, Hastings Democratic Committee
