Hastings residents, I write to you with an urgent message, as we have been made aware of an email in circulation that appears to be a "straw poll" from the Hastings Democratic Committee. Please be advised that it is not. An unknown person seems to have set up an email address that is confusingly similar to the official Hastings Democrats email address, which is hastingsdems10706@gmail.com. The Hastings Democratic Committee did not issue the message and is not conducting any survey. As this appears to be an attempt by an unidentified source to impersonate our email account, we request that recipients treat it as suspicious spam—do not click the link or respond. The Hastings Democratic Committee has not disseminated, and never will disseminate, the email addresses of those who have signed up to receive our official communications, which this most certainly is not. If in fact, this message turns out somehow to have been sent to that list, it was accomplished through unauthorized appropriation. Our Committee is outraged that this caucus period—when we work together to cultivate an environment for the free and open debate of ideas in our Village—should marred by such anonymous and misleading communications.
