Fellow Hastings Democrats,
It's time to vote—and get your friends and neighbors to vote as well!
Below is a sign-up for two opportunities to canvass right here in Hastings, and I sincerely hope you will join us. If you're feeling anxious, jaded, or just disconnected, this is a chance to recharge and reconnect with your community. If you're a parent who wants your children to learn the value of democracy and be empowered to advocate for environmental policies, this is is where you can teach by doing. Canvassing is also a wonderful way just to take in the fall air and get to know your village better. So, please come and knock on some doors with us. Let's remind our neighbors of the important issues on the ballot in this election.
Best of all, early voting begins on Saturday, and for the first time there will be an early voting polling site in Hastings. (Whoohoo!) I encourage you to take advantage of this convenience. You can see all the information for early voting below.
When you vote, you will find a highly qualified and dedicated Democratic slate who have earned your support:
Chuck Schumer for US Senate
Jamaal Bowman for US House of Reps., NY Congressional District 16
Kathy Hochul for NY State Governor
Antonio Delgado for NY State Lieutenant Governor
Letitia James for NY State Attorney General
Tom DiNapoli for NY State Comptroller
Andrea Stewart-Cousins for NY State Senate District 35
MaryJane Shimsky for NY State Assembly District 92
And for our courts:
NY State Supreme Court, 9th Judicial District (7 open seats): Sherri Eisenpress Keri Fiore Elena Goldberg-Velazquez Anne Minihan Amy Puerto David Squirrell David Zuckerman
Maurice Dean Williams for Westchester County Court Judge
Erin McGoey for Greenburgh Town Justice
Don't forget to flip that ballot! On the back are two propositions, both of which have been endorsed by the Hastings Democratic Committee:
New York Proposition 1, the “Clean Water, Clean Air, Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act,” will bring $4.2 billion in green investments and jobs to communities across New York State. This is a generational chance to mitigate pollution, upgrade infrastructure, restore habitats, preserve family farms, and protect communities impacted by environmental degradation.
Hastings-on-Hudson Proposition 1 to move the village election gives us the opportunity to change the date of our village election from March to November, so that it will align with the general election. Consolidating our elections in this way will reduce costs, while significantly increasing ballot access and voter participation.
I hope voting is easy and accessible for you, but if not—should you have any questions or problems—please reach out to us at hastingsdems10706@gmail.com.
Onward,
Cassandra Sweet
Chair, Hastings Democratic Committee
